July can be planned, and January is a floodway
Stock is held for Broome, and delivery is quoted to the address. July is a month you can plan. January can put the Great Northern under water at Willare and at the Fitzroy for days, so a truck that rolled on Monday may still be waiting on Friday. Say the month when you enquire.
Held for Broome
Photos of the Broome unit go out before the truck is booked. A look is arranged. If the box goes on by barge from Entrance Point, the tide sets the date. Name the month, because water at Willare or the Fitzroy can hold the highway after the booking is made.
Kimberley stops and codes
Cable Beach 6726 is the dune side of town. Bidyadanga 6725 is a community further south, not a suburb hop. Derby and Willare share 6728, and Willare is a floodway as much as a destination. Fitzroy Crossing 6765 is the other highway cut. A station past Derby and a dune-side backyard are different jobs.
Pindan, boabs and tides
Industrial ground around Clementson and Blackman is the easy end: hardstand, and no drama with a 40ft on a side loader or crane. Roebuck Estate suits a rigid. Old Broome and Chinatown are tight with boabs and verandahs, so a crane over the fence is common. A 10ft or 20ft on firm ground can still come off a tilt-tray. Behind the Cable Beach dunes a loaded dual sinks into a verge that looked solid. Elsewhere it is pindan, firm in October and slick over a soft base by February. Barge freight from Entrance Point follows the tide, and that window sets the date if the box travels onward. Say whether the last leg is sealed or pindan.
Pearls, tours and stations
Pearling crews on Roebuck Bay and toward Cygnet Bay need a dry lock-up. Tour operators put boats and swags away for the wet. Freight for a barge at Entrance Point has to match the sailing. Stations toward Derby and Fitzroy Crossing need stores that can sit while the road is cut. Roebuck Estate and Djugun builds want a site store. People who leave for the season want household goods out of a mate's shed.
Notes on floodways, pindan, and tide windows at the port.
How long can Willare or the Fitzroy hold a truck?
Days, while the water is up. The date moves until the highway reopens. A dry-season booking does not have that pause. Name the month.
Is October pindan the same surface as February pindan?
No. Dry pindan can carry a truck. Wet pindan is slick on top and soft under. Say the month and whether the last leg is sealed.
Does a barge from Entrance Point follow the truck's clock?
It follows the tide. If the unit is going on to a peninsula community, that window is the date, not a convenient hour.
Will sand behind Cable Beach take a loaded verge?
Assume it will not. Keep the truck on a firm apron, or lift to a prepared pad. A photo of the verge decides which.
