Roma, QLD
Roma is a truck already pointed down the Warrego
Roma is a long way west, and the box is the simple part. The truck has to be going that way. A load that can travel with freight for Miles, Wallumbilla, Yuleba and Mitchell is easier to build into a run. Give the date early. The size and grade are confirmed before the truck is planned. Photos of the Roma unit go out before dispatch, and delivery is quoted to the address.
West with other freight
The haul follows the Warrego west, by way of Toowoomba, then Dalby, then Miles. It is a scheduled run, not a same-week whim. Photos of the Roma unit go out before loading. A sale day, a shutdown or a crew on site should be in the first note, so the truck is planned around that date.
Highway towns, five codes
Injune sits at 4454, north into the hills. Mitchell is 4465, further west. Surat is 4417. Wallumbilla is 4428 and Yuleba is 4427, both back along the highway. Roma itself is 4455. A Bungil industrial frontage and a track past Wallumbilla need different detail.
Track, grid and turn
Streets in Roma give a rigid room, and frontages toward the highway are straightforward. The day is decided after the bitumen. Places through Wallumbilla, Injune, Surat and the Mitchell side often have several kilometres of private track before the shed. Maintained gravel is a comfortable run. Formed earth is usable until a storm, then not within the hour.
Private grids rarely carry a plate. A loaded rigid asks more of the rails than a ute. No rating means a side gate, a stop on hard ground short of the rails, or a crane. The far end needs a firm turn so a tilt-tray can sit square and leave forward. Clear the cattle first. Bulldust holes look like road. Firm ground takes a tilt-tray for 10ft and 20ft. A tight yard or a 40ft wants the crane.
Tags, hay and laydown
Wallumbilla, Yuleba and Injune keep tags, drench and handling gear by the yards. Hay and lick stay away from mice. Surat crews north of town want laydown they can shift. Fitters lock spares inside. Highway shops and the Bungil industrial strip do the same. A newly fenced block is often still waiting on a shed.
Reading on long hauls, grids, and gear kept near the yards.
Why does my date depend on other towns?
The truck is the scarce part. Freight for Miles, Wallumbilla, Yuleba or Mitchell makes the run easier. Name the date early.
The grid has no rating. Does the truck test it?
No. Side gate, hard ground this side of the rails, or a crane across. A ute that crossed last week is not a trial for a rigid.
There is no turn at the shed. Can you still unload?
A tilt-tray has to sit square and leave forward. If the only turn is soft or too small, stop closer to the road or use a crane.
Cattle are in the laneway. Is that our problem to fix?
Yes, before the truck starts down it. The same call covers a bulldust hole that looks filled and is not.

Room for more.Less mucking around.
