Side access is pinched, the setback leaves nothing to manoeuvre in, or all that is needed is a lockable spot for the mower, an air compressor and a wall of hand tools.

Oakey, QLD
Room for a forty-footer is useful. Room for the vehicle carrying it is the question we ask next. Oakey and Aubigny are working rural blocks west of Toowoomba, and a yard that looks enormous beside a shed can still lack a place for a rigid truck to turn, a gate it can pass, or ground that stays firm after rain. The unit is confirmed at Cornubia, and the approach is confirmed by you, before a carrier is sent west.

Cornubia is the only yard you can walk into — ring first. Everywhere else, ask for photographs of the actual unit before delivery, or inspection by arrangement at a partner depot.
Grade moves the price more than size does, and it is what decides whether a unit is sold watertight — the full rundown is on the grades page.

10ftSide access is pinched, the setback leaves nothing to manoeuvre in, or all that is needed is a lockable spot for the mower, an air compressor and a wall of hand tools.
20ftThere is about seven metres of straight, reasonably level ground for it to sit on, and you would rather not discover in half a year that the bigger box was the answer.
40ftYou have the space, the approach is genuinely open, and you want the most storage per dollar the site will allow.
Possible container uses around Oakey include feed, seed and fencing kept together on farms at Oakey and Aubigny, machinery parts and workshop overflow beside a shed that filled up years ago, tools and materials for work around the property, a lockable store on a block where the house yard has become the default dumping ground.
Oakey town can be a simple street drop, and Aubigny generally is not. The rural job, which is what this page is for, turns on whether a loaded truck can arrive, square up, unload and leave without a rescue. Gate openings, culverts, overhead wires and the turnaround at the shed are the four things to photograph. The firm apron next to the shed is usually a sounder place to land the box than open paddock, provided the truck can use it and still get out. Where the soil softens after rain, and a lot of this country does, the container wants a prepared firm pad rather than bare ground, and the carrier wants permission to look at conditions again before dispatch. A date agreed in a dry week is not a promise to drive a loaded truck onto ground that has since gone soft. Tilt-tray is the ordinary choice where the approach is clear and firm. A crane is the choice where the final position needs reach the tilt-tray does not have, and it needs setup ground of its own. Choosing between a 20ft and a 40ft starts with what is going inside and then immediately hits what the approach will take. A longer box that cannot be delivered to the only sensible position is not a saving. Pads or sleepers under the castings, levelled, with doors at the uphill end, are assumed to be part of the plan wherever the ground moves. Say what the surface is when you enquire. Cornubia holds the stock. Ring 1300 467 776 with the address, the size you have in mind, and those photos, and the answer you get is about the actual unit and the actual approach.
Oakey
The footprint of a container and the path of the truck are regularly confused. Aubigny and the rural edge of Oakey have room for the box and, quite often, a shed yard that a rigid vehicle cannot turn in. A tilt-tray that cannot square up cannot unload, and one that cannot turn has to reverse out, which is a poor plan on a narrow farm approach with a table drain on either side. Look at the shed yard as a turning circle, not as a parking space, and photograph it from the gate so the whole area is in frame.
If the turn does not exist, do not invent one on the day. Land the container where the truck can arrive and leave, on firm ground, and move it with a machine that already works on the place. That is a successful delivery with the last shift left in your hands. It needs to be agreed when the order is placed, because the carrier coming from Cornubia is not bringing a second vehicle to extract the first.

On the ground
Ground west of Toowoomba moves with the weather. A surface that is hard underfoot in a dry spell can soften after rain, and a container sat straight on it will settle one corner at a time until the doors complain. The preparation is ordinary: a firm pad, hardwood sleepers or concrete under the four castings, checked level along the sides and across the diagonals, doors facing the high side. If the pad is not ready, say so. The delivery can aim at a temporary firm position instead of at a patch of paddock that only looks ready.
Tell the carrier what the approach does after rain, and accept that a booking can move when the ground has changed. That is safer than a truck committed to an approach you already suspected. Overhead wires to the shed and the width of the gate belong in the same note. A prepared pad that the truck cannot reach is scenery. A reachable pad is a delivery.

Worth knowing
A 40ft is the right answer when the contents need the length and the approach can take the truck that brings it. It is the wrong answer when the gate, the culvert or the turnaround can only support a shorter unit. A 20ft is easier to place, easier to turn around, and often enough for parts, feed and a workbench. Two 20ft units are worth asking about when the volume is the point and a single long approach is the obstacle. The comparison is access as well as floor area.
There is no stock sitting in Oakey to inspect. The unit comes from Cornubia unless a listed depot elsewhere actually has the grade, and you will be told which. Come to 51-55 Bromley Street if you want to see it, Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5pm or Saturday 8am to 12pm, after ringing 1300 467 776. If that drive is not the plan, photographs of the actual container are sent on request before delivery. People and animals should be clear of the unloading area when the truck does arrive. The driver places the box where the person on site points, and that person needs to be the one who knows which way the doors face.

We quote the delivery leg with the unit. A wide hardstand and a soft or tight approach the same distance out are priced differently, and only your address tells us which one you have.
We also deliver to Toowoomba, Dalby, Aubigny, Jondaryan and the surrounding district. If your town is not on the list, ring — it almost certainly still works.

Common questions
No Oakey depot is listed, and none at Dalby or Toowoomba either. The unit is confirmed from Cornubia, or from another depot that is actually on the list if that is where the size and grade are standing. You are told the source before the truck is booked. Inspection of the Cornubia unit is welcome if you ring first, and photographs of that same unit are sent on request before delivery.
Start with what has to go inside, then with what the approach at Oakey or Aubigny will accept. A 40ft needs a delivery plan, not only a larger footprint beside the shed. If the gate, the turnaround or the culvert will not take the longer truck, a 20ft is the better buy even when the yard could hold more steel. Two shorter units are worth a conversation when you need the volume and the drive is the limit.
Firm access, a clear place for the truck to set up and turn, and level supports at the agreed position. Keep people and animals out of the unloading area. If rain has softened the approach since the booking, say so before dispatch so the carrier can move the date or aim at a firmer landing. A pad that exists only as a plan is not the same as a pad the truck can use that morning.
It is the same page and the same stock source, and it is often the more rural approach of the two. Town streets in Oakey can be straightforward. An Aubigny property still needs the gate, the culvert, the wires and the turnaround described. Send the locality with the photos. The date is confirmed when you order, against Cornubia stock and against that approach, not against a depot in town that we do not have.
