Russell Island adds a ferry after the yard hop
Mount Cotton is a short hop, so weather can move a booking without a lost day. The ground will not be the same two streets later. Older bayside blocks have no way down the side. Russell, Macleay and the others finish on water, not on bitumen.
Over Mount Cotton
Redlands orders leave a yard at 51–55 Bromley Street, Cornubia, over Mount Cotton into the shire. Say whether the drop is a bayside street or one of the islands, because the barge changes the booking. Swing the doors at the yard before the unit meets a barge timetable.
Bay and island codes
Cleveland shares 4163 with this page. Capalaba is 4157 and Wellington Point is 4160. Victoria Point and Redland Bay share 4165. Amity, Dunwich and Point Lookout are 4183 on the Stradbroke side. Russell Island, Macleay Island, Lamb Island, Karragarra Island and Coochiemudlo Island are 4184, each of them a water leg rather than a longer driveway.
Sand, then the barge
Victoria Point, Thornlands and Wellington Point go sandy, draining fast and carrying poorly. A dual will punch a nature strip that looked fine from the footpath. Inland a street or two, paperbark flats stay greasy under a dry crust.
Cleveland, Ormiston, Birkdale and Thorneside are small blocks, the house on one boundary, gums at bed height, wires on the front. A crane over the fence beats threading a tray down the side. Newer Thornlands streets add pits, parked cars and young fill. Usable side access can take a tilt-tray. A long box, a tight bayside block, or an over-fence spot needs the crane. Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra leave via Weinam Creek. Stradbroke, from Dunwich through to Point Lookout, leaves via Toondah Harbour. Island tracks are often unsealed, short of a turn, and sandy. Arrange that leg. Do not tuck it into a spare hour.
Boats, turf, islands
Garages gave up on boats, trailers, crab pots and dive gear years ago. Nurseries, turf farms and landscapers keep plant and stock in the box. Island builds stage materials before the house starts. A bayside cottage coming down and going back up needs furniture parked. Cleveland and Wellington Point clubs lock sailing and school gear. Mount Cotton, Sheldon and Redland Bay acreage takes machinery and feed.
Notes on bay sand, narrow side gates and the ferry leg.
Can a box go to Macleay Island on a normal run?
Not as a gap-filler. The marine leg from Weinam Creek has its own limits on length and weight. It gets arranged, then the island track is checked.
Victoria Point nature strip looked solid. Drive on it?
Sandy profiles here carry less than they show. Name sand, paperbark flat, or older fill, and keep the truck on what will hold.
Side gate at Birkdale is a mower's width. What now?
Crane over the fence if the street allows the setup. Threading a tilt bed between house and fence is the slower, riskier version of the same job.
Does Coochiemudlo use the same ferry plan as Russell?
Each island is its own water leg, with its own limits, not a driveway that happens to have a view. Name it. Mainland rules do not float across.
