Town is flat, and the cape is a different truck
School holidays, Christmas and Easter fill the cape with caravans and people watching the view. That season sits on a long run from the Fremantle partner depot, south past Bunbury and onto the Bussell Highway. A quiet Tuesday outside those peaks is a kinder delivery day.
Highway past Bunbury

Bay towns and codes
Dunsborough 6281 and Yallingup 6282 are the cape climbs. Margaret River 6285 is the forest and vineyard end. Vasse 6280 sits with the newer estates on flatter ground. Bunbury 6230 is passed on the highway and has its own page. An Eagle Bay drive and a Vasse slab are not one instruction.
Flat town, rocky cape
The town is low and open. West Busselton, Broadwater and Abbey usually have a side for a tilt-tray and a 10ft or 20ft. Vasse, Yalyalup and Provence are generally kind. The cape is not. Dunsborough, Eagle Bay and Yallingup lots are steep, rocky, and closed in by peppermint, marri and banksia. Drives drop off the bitumen or bend between granite, so a crane is the honest tool, and also for a tight vineyard shed. A 40ft at a winery is a side loader when the yard is open. Holiday weeks crowd the Caves route with cyclists as well as caravans. South of Margaret River, karri over the road sets the height. Gravel, fruit bins and gates that must be left as found are the farm version of the same job.
Cellars, lets and cattle
Wineries from Yallingup through Wilyabrup and Cowaramup to Margaret River keep barrels and bins in steel. Holiday-rental managers need linen and tools. Dunsborough, Quindalup and Eagle Bay store boats and boards. Vasse, Yalyalup and Dunsborough Lakes take site stores. Carbunup and Metricup want hay and fencing dry. Breweries along the Caves route need packaging out of the weather.

Should a cape delivery avoid the school holidays?
Yes when you can. Christmas, Easter and the holiday weeks pack the Caves route. A midweek outside those peaks is the calmer booking.
Will a tilt-tray cope with an Eagle Bay drive?
Often it will not. Granite, a sharp bend and peppermint over the tray push the job onto a crane. Send the fall of the drive first.
Can a winery take a 40ft beside the shed?
When the yard is open for a side loader and the bins can move. A tight shed on a slope is a crane, and usually a shorter unit.
Do karri limbs south of Margaret River set the height?
They do. Overhang decides a raised tray more than the map does. A photo looking up at the lowest branch answers it.
