Wollongong, NSW
Little of the Illawarra shelf is flat enough to unload on
Mount Ousley carries the loaded descent into Wollongong, brake checks and arrester beds included, and Bulli Pass is no place for this combination. The last leg runs through Sydney and down the motorway. Photos of the Wollongong unit go out before that descent is booked. Flat ground is scarce, and a great many houses sit below the street they are addressed from.
Coastal schedule, Sydney leg
The Illawarra booking follows the coastal schedule, then the motorway descent.
The final kilometres pass through Sydney, then the motorway and Mount Ousley. Sydney on that leg is a corridor only. The last kilometres are the motorway and the Mount Ousley descent.
Shelf towns and codes
Wollongong is 2500. Port Kembla is 2505. Thirroul is 2515. Shellharbour is 2529. Dapto is 2530. Kiama is 2533. Austinmer, Figtree and Jamberoo belong in the same note. A Thirroul hairpin and a Port Kembla hardstand are both Illawarra, and only one of them is simple.
Descent, then the drop
A straight run onto the block can take a tilt-tray. Crane work covers houses below the street, the northern villages, and most forty-foot jobs. Thirroul, Austinmer, Coledale, Scarborough and Stanwell Park hang on one coastal road of hairpins, pinch points and figs at about four metres. A short box on a tray can get there. A long one is a talk before you order. Figtree, Mount Keira, Mount Pleasant, Balgownie and Woonona often fall from the kerb, with the yard below the truck, so the crane lowers the box. Foothills mix sandstone shelf and slipping clay, including known slip zones. Windang and Shellharbour are sand. Dapto and Albion Park hold water on Mullet Creek and the Macquarie Rivulet. An east-coast low makes a wet-day shift ordinary.
Steel, surf, dairy
Trade storage around Port Kembla, Unanderra and Kembla Grange. Surf kit in the northern villages. Site stores on steep rebuilds at Figtree and Keiraville. Materials at Calderwood and Tullimbah. Dairy kit toward Jamberoo. Belongings while a Thirroul cottage is rebuilt.

Is Bulli Pass a backup when Mount Ousley is busy?
Not for this combination. Mount Ousley is the freight descent, brake checks and arrester beds included. The run is planned around traffic, not tacked on.
How is a box placed on a house sitting below the street?
A crane lowers it. Figtree, Mount Pleasant, Balgownie and Woonona often drop away from the kerb. A tilt-tray cannot set a box downhill.
Are the northern villages a sensible forty-foot run?
Settle that before ordering. Thirroul through Stanwell Park means hairpins and figs on one coastal road. A twenty-foot on a tray is the ordinary fit.
What belongs in the note about foothill slip zones?
Sandstone shelf and clay that moves, some of it mapped. A heavy box is not a guess. Windang sand and the Dapto flats that hold water are different. Name the ground.
