The deck is shared with other northbound freight, and the pass is not optional
Iron ore, salt and gas already come up the North West Coastal Highway, and a steel box is the same kind of trip. About fifteen hundred kilometres south, the Fremantle partner depot loads units onto trucks already heading north, often beside Hedland freight. The trip makes sense when that deck has room.
Shared deck from Fremantle
Stock is held for the Pilbara, and delivery is quoted to the address. Photos of the unit that would travel are the normal inspection. Be exact early, so a missed specification is caught before the truck is booked.
Neighbours along the coast
Dampier 6713 is the port and salt end of the peninsula. Wickham and Point Samson share 6720. Roebourne 6718 sits inland of them. Onslow 6710 is a separate coast run, not a local hop. Name a Gap Ridge yard, a Wickham house or an Onslow job for what it is.
Passes, rock and cyclones
Roads are wide, and Gap Ridge plus the industrial ground on the Dampier corridor suit this work. A 10ft or 20ft into town or Gap Ridge can come off a tilt-tray. A 40ft, and anything inside a fence, is a side loader or a crane. Bulgarra, Nickol, Pegs Creek and Baynton usually offer a driveway a rigid can square to. The Burrup adds gate passes and heritage limits that have to be sorted before a truck leaves the holding. Compacted red laterite is excellent bearing. Tidal flats between town and Dampier are soft and will swallow an axle. Ridge blocks hit rock a short way down, which bears weight and makes four level corners harder. From December to March creeks rise, and a cyclone warning stops craning.
Turnarounds and garages
Tooling for a Burrup shutdown has to be here before the work starts. Gap Ridge takes lay-down, crib rooms and site offices. Dampier port and salt operations need contractor storage. Garages in Bulgarra, Nickol and Baynton run out of room for boats and pots. Roebourne, Wickham and Point Samson want a lock-up closer than a highway trip for every tool. A posting in either direction has the same timing problem.
Notes on passes, ridge rock, and the months cranes stop.
When do Burrup passes have to be in hand?
Before the truck leaves the Fremantle holding. A heritage limit discovered on the day strands a long-haul driver. Put the site contact in the first message.
Will tidal ground between town and Dampier carry a truck?
No. Those flats are soft and salty. Compacted laterite is the surface that works. Say if the pin sits near the tide line.
What does rock on a ridge block change?
Bearing is good and level is not. Four corners at one height may still need packing. A photo of the pad shows whether to bring timber.
Do cyclone weeks stop a tilt-tray as well as a crane?
Craning stops under a warning. Soft ground and creek crossings can stop a tray too. December to March needs an open site, not only a free day.

Room for more.Less mucking around.
