Maryborough, QLD

The wide grid is easy and the yard under the house is not

Cane on the river flats and timber houses up on stumps are the two real limits. The old centre still has carriageways a rigid can use. The useful patch of yard is often beneath the floor, where a box will not go, or out the back past a gate cut for a wheelbarrow.

Up the Bruce

Maryborough orders leave the Gympie depot, a plain run north. Viewing is arranged ahead, and photos of the Maryborough unit go out before it leaves. Most of the old grid suits a tilt-tray. A forty-foot, or a high-set where the only ground is behind the house, needs the crane.

Maryborough buyers comparing lengths and grades should start on the sales page.

River towns nearby

Tinana, Granville, Tiaro and Bauple share 4650 with the town. Howard is 4659, further up toward the Burrum. Baddow, Aldershot, Owanyilla and Yengarie sit on the same enquiry. The first two are low river country. The other pair is cane, with headlands rather than kerbs.

Grid, stumps, silt

Kent, Adelaide, Bazaar, Ellena and Alice let a tilt-tray stand square. The stop is the block. High-set timber leaves the dry space under the joists, which is too low, or behind a side passage. A mango or camphor laurel at tray height ends the reverse. The crane then lifts from the street.

Tinana, Granville, Baddow and Aldershot sit on silt beside the Mary and Tinana Creek. Dry weeks carry a truck. A wet week does not, and the crust lies. Cane toward Owanyilla and Yengarie adds tight headlands and irrigation mains under crossings. On the flats, say when it last rained. In town, describe the gate and the trees.

Cane and joinery

Fabrication shops run out of room for machinery. Cane farms lock irrigation fittings. People restoring timber houses keep salvaged joinery dry. Holdings toward Tiaro store feed and fencing. A high-set being restumped needs the household somewhere else. If the contents must stay dry, cargo-worthy and new are checked wind and watertight. As-is is not sold that way.

Reading on stumps, river flats and how a length is chosen.

Can the box sit under a high-set house?

No. Stump height will not clear a box. The place is out the back, and if the side passage is too narrow the crane lifts from the street.

What if the side gate dates from a wheelbarrow?

Measure the opening at its tightest point and name the tree across it. A mango limb at tray height is as decisive as the gate.

How does Tinana ground behave after a wet week?

Silt carries in the dry and holds water after the surface skins over. Say when rain last fell and what the last stretch is. The booking can move.

Will a cane headland at Owanyilla take a rigid?

Only if the turn is truck-sized and the irrigation main can bear a stopped load. A tractor path is not that. Describe the approach first.
